Self Help Tips (Home) > Setting Goals > Steps in Setting Goals Career Goal Setting: One Step where Most People FailIs your life heading in the direction you want? Do you wake up with energy and purpose everyday? Do you know what to do, and how to do it, to be financially independent, have more friends and have more family time? Getting what you want in your life starts with goals. Are you tired of hearing about goals and how to set goals? Have you ever tried to set your goals in life? Do you wake up each day with pen and paper to list down your daily, weekly and monthly goals? My motivational students still encounter difficulty in creating more wealth simply because they do not make goal-setting a part of their lives. Whereas my successful students who diligently do goal settings double or triple their earnings, loose weight and have become more organized and happy. The secret? Setting goals! Writing them down and taking action! Action?Action is not just the physical act doing when it comes to setting goals. It is also a mental exercise that needs to be set in motion. An example of mental action is deciding "how" you can accomplish your goals. This means writing a plan on how you are going to start and finish a particular goal. Writing plans is a form of mental effort because you think of the various steps of action involved before you can take them. Ask yourself: "How am I going to do it? What are the essential sets of attitudes that will help me achieve my goal? What are the strategies that need to be done to finish my goal successfully?" Some tough realities may set in at this stage of planning the course of your goals. Be very honest with yourself on how exactly you will finish a task when writing a plan. As much as possible, write down also the necessary actual physical work. And there comes the discipline to follow the plan until the job is done. The one-stage of goal setting that spells failure to many people around the world is because they lack the discipline to stay the course and keep themselves inspired to win. Do not fall into this practice. Do not set goals, write plans and dream your life away. Take action, stay disciplined and focused. With disciplined action, you can have, be and do anything you want in life.
