Education Leadership Demands Starts Early
It is true that leadership is mostly a character trait. However, today it is also an important pre-requisite for most positions. Most organizations conduct specific leadership skills training programs at regular intervals so as to keep their personnel highly motivated and self-driven.
How Soon Can One Cultivate Leadership Skills?
'How early should you start' is a question echoed by many teachers and educationists. Can leadership skills be promoted as part of curriculum in schools? In Colleges? In Universities? Where is the best point to start cultivating these skills?
Experts believe that the education leadership needs has to start quite early in life if you want it to give good results in the long run. Students are very receptive to education leadership exercises and training and they have the capacity to absorb the techniques naturally, without thinking about it. These traits overlap with their inherent talents and they become tomorrow's leaders.
It is a fact the leadership skills can be taught; though this becomes quite difficult after you are 25 years of age. However, if these skills are part of an education leadership program imparted in school, leadership skills tend to become a second nature for the children who are exposed to such training.
This is the reason why certain schools produce more successful and assertive people than other schools. The impact is visible also in pre-school children; when leadership exercises are conducted at regular intervals, the children are better behaved, more assertive and more confident in their approach to others in the peer group.
Ethics is another component that merges into leadership and education leadership. It has been observed that good leadership qualities are projected and sustained only when the ethical fiber is strongly interwoven in the psyche of the person. Here the education leadership programs help to give direction to the young minds and connect the leadership with ethical behavior.
A leader is usually a person with high personal integrity and is highly adept at motivating others to walk on the same path. Such leaders become examples in jobs, society and personal lives.
Leadership, as a trait, is best taught young. The education of the student who has been exposed constantly to such training and exercises reflect positively in their adult lives. These children are less likely to take wrong or unethical decisions in their adult life. The schools are the best training ground for our leaders of tomorrow.
